We are excited to announce the return of the wonderful Chandra Lacombe to Nixi Music this October with another heart-felt and vibrant song, Jaya Guru Babaji. Chandra’s music is forever born from a place of deep devotion to the spiritual path, and in this devotion he finds a playfulness that extends and entwines with the fabric of his music. The inclusion of Flowers of the Forest into the song, whose own musical intention carries the same intention of ascension, release and celebration, results in a beautiful collaboration that continues both their musical journeys. Jaya Guru Babaji is an uplifting and invigorating piece song to carry us over the threshold of the Autumn Equinox with light and life.
Chandra shares; “Namaste folks, the way I can share words to explain my experience on the path of the humble devotee is as follows... Among all doors (methods of spiritual practice aiming at the realisation of our own divinity within) that I have knocked on, Devotion is the one which proved itself the most efficient way to reconnect with the divine in ourselves. And at least it is the shortest one.
In Jaya Guru Babaji I intend to ring the bell in the heart of the listener... conveying a healing and deeply spiritual message in which the major point is “devotional surrender”. Moreover I boldly chose to wrap it in a groovy lyrical ballad intertwined with the mantra. Nonetheless we are really satisfied with the outcome of this... nourishing and rejoicing our souls in a happy way. To have Flowers of the Forest collaborating with this tune felt so right to my heart. Both of them are very dear and they really
got the flavour of the essence in this song. My utter gratitude Om Tat Sat”.
Flowers of the Forest share; “It started with just playing around in the studio and a thought to add a Flowers of the Forest touch to it. It all unfolded very naturally and came out sounding so good. We love this song and all that Chandra creates, so we were very happy to be invited to add our part.
Chandra has been a very big inspiration in our lives. Siggy and Chandra have been playing music together in different settings for 20 years already. We love collaborating! This song is very touching and at the same time so invigorating to the spirit. You can’t help but dance and sing along and then play it all over again! Siggy is playing the charango, the guitar and the dilruba, in addition to adding his voice to the chorus and the vocalisations. Rutt joins Chandra in singing throughout the song and Siggy in the vocalisations at the end of the song. Hearing us singing all together feels so at home and brings much joy to our hearts. Just like when we get together in person.”
